What did we learn from the Kentucky game?

I don't know if I would take too much from the first half. I remember SOS's Gators coming to columbia a few times. It was a game to experiment with stuff for them, and was the biggest game of the year for us. We would play over our heads for a quarter or two, and then get curb-stomped and lose by 40.

I think Spurrier thought we could throw it around against them, and we probably could have. KY had pretty much everything that could go right actually go right for them. They got some breaks early, got the crowd in the game, and were playing out of their minds. That blocked punt was an illegal play by KY, you are not allowed to dive over the blockers like that, it is a safety rule. I don't know if the refs forgot the rule or what. If you could still dive bomb, the "fence" would be moved up a couple of yards.

We had been practicing the I formation, power running game all week, and they might not have wanted to show too much of it. We had to take the crowd out of the game, and let KY remember who they are, so we went to it in the 2nd half. The game went like it was supposed to go in the second half.

Sometimes the other teams defense has a scheme in there where handing the ball off to Marcus doesn't make sense. He had gotten stuffed for no gain that game from the same look a couple of times. I think Spurrier won't go against all logic just to get Marcus the ball on the Goal-line. If he had ran Marcus twice in a row while KY was in the same look, and got stuffed, I am pretty sure people would be calling that a "bad play call" also. The other teams have good coaches, and good defense, and sometimes they execute. It happens.

That is my thoughts on it.

I learned it's not always important to tape the entire game.. sometimes.. just the 2nd half..lol
