Well after thought on last years class and the one today Gamecocks held ground. Nothing really to move up and make ground in the SEC. This class with all rankings, averages rank is about 19th and eighth in the SEC. With that said good class but will have to be better a lot better With Clemson and then the SEC with Bama 1 and Georgia 2and 5 more SEC schools ranked ahead. Heard facts we have to win and win now if the Gamecocks will be able to get the talent to get the SEC division titles along with being able to compete with Clemson. These type of classes will get you the 7, 8 win season, but for more the Gamecocks will need more talent. Igive this class a C +.....

Anyone have their own thoughts and how would you grade the 2017 class?

I don't agree with your C+.  I'm thinking more like B+.

Three things I saw that were encouraging to me:

1) Muschamp closed the deal.  He wanted to get 5 players on NSD and HE GOT ALL FIVE!  Among them is a former commit for Alabama, a team that has played for a ton of national championships lately.  They simply had no room for this 4-star player.  Normally an LSU, an Auburn or a Georgia would be waiting there to snatch that player up....today it was South Carolina that got him!  Not to mention the fact that we got Jamyest Williams, a player we had to have! Good trend for our recruiting prowess down the road.

2) We are in the process of building an iron curtain defense just like Muschamp did at Florida.  Trust me, in 3 years, we will be getting 6 players drafted into the NFL off this defense, with maybe another 2 signing as free agents.  Mark this down: Will Muschamp is THE BEST COACH IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL at building a defense.  Texas, Florida and now here.

3) This class is chock full of playmakers, guys who at the high school level were dominant.  Shi, Smith, OrTre Smith, Jamyest, Brad Johnson, Aaron Sterling.....on and on it goes.  When you add this group to the ones we already have (Edwards, Bentley, Skai Moore, Deebo, Dowdle) -- LOOK OUT! Playmakers win games, and I fully expect us to win a lot more next year.

The only reason this class doesn't make the A-range in grade is because it had not a single 5-star player in it. But I think they're on the horizon.

I would agree with your B+, but I feel losing a few key commits that decommiteds made me bring it to a C+ along with the 8 spot in SEC recruiting rankings...

While I agree with both your reasonings, I prefer to not apply a grade as of yet due to no actual performance has occurred yet, I think of it as the NFL in the sense that you never know if the transition to a higher level of competition will be successful or will they be a bust. We have seen plenty of that here before.
