it’s really hard to decide, you can make a great case for all of them:
Spurrier spent his time developing a program, tweaking his own style to find success. not only has USC done so many firsts lately, but they’ve been only 1 of 4 teams to win 11 games the last 2 seasons
Tanner was the most successful, going to 3 straight championship rounds and won back-to-back national titles. he did it without the most talented roster but a team that constantly found ways to win. he also tweaked his style. but they’ve been a very successful program for over a decade. that was the most success he had and hadn’t been to the CWS in awhile, but he still had a tremendous program.
Staley is building an excellent program here. she took over a program that was pretty good, but had a bad record and followed by a mediocre one. then she had a very successful year last year and is having another one this year. they aren’t fancy by any stretch of the imagination, but they win.
it’s only half-way through Martin’s 1st year, but don’t think anybody expected things to go this well this early. we don’t know if what happened in the arkie game will continue, but they have shown tremendous progress the last several games. they went from a team that looked lost offensively game after game to going on long streaks against very good teams. and that was after a disastrous year or 2, and then arguably the 2 best players transferring.
Shelley Smith, women’s soccer, has done a very good job with lots of success. she has won conference titles the last few years and has won some coach of the year awards. her teams the last few years have had a pretty consistent record.
Boo Major, equestrian, has had tons of success, winning national titles and being one of the most successful programs in the nation year after year.
guess USC really stands for University of Spectacular Coaches
