Who’s left for the Gamecocks in 2018?

January 11, 2018

The South Carolina recruiting class picked up 20 signatures during the early signing period, and there are only a few spots left for the first Wednesday in February.

Former Auburn cornerback Marlon Character Jr. is no longer committed to South Carolina because he was unable to make the grade in time at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Publicly, the Gamecocks have three unsigned commitments to the Class of 2018. A total of four spots are available.

Commitments

Bryce Thompson, No. 52 ATH

Bryce Thompson, a 3-star prospect who’s from nearby Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, S.C., committed to South Carolina in December. The Gamecocks coaching staff likes him as a defensive back, but Thompson could also line up as a wide receiver.

LaMarius Benson, No. 89 DT

Dennis Briggs, No. 25 DT

The 6-foot-4, 252-pound 4-star prospect from Kissimmee, Fla., has received several picks for Miami on the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

D.J. Brown, No. 98 CB

D.J. Brown (Washington, D.C.) remains committed to Virginia, but several schools are also in the mix, including Clemson, where he’s reportedly set to visit this weekend.
