Who’s left for the Gamecocks in 2019?

South Carolina’s 15-man 2019 class enters the final week of June as the No. 11-ranked haul in the country, according to the 247Sports composite. Because the Gamecocks are expected to land another top target later this week, they should jump back into the top 10, at least for the time being.
Four-star athlete Keveon Mullins, the No. 17-ranked athlete in the Class of 2019, is a heavy lean to South Carolina, with all seven predictions for the Gamecocks on the 247Sports Crystal Ball.
Mullins, who’s from Whitehaven High School in Memphis, Tenn., recently included Memphis, Georgia and Louisville in his final four, but it’s pretty clear that South Carolina is in the driver’s seat.
Assuming South Carolina adds his commitment while he’s in Atlanta for Rivals’ 5-Star Challenge, that will pretty much put a bow on the 2019 collection of offensive skill players, though the Gamecocks are still in the chase for another running back: 5-star athlete Quavaris Crouch (Charlotte, N.C.).
For South Carolina, it’s already an impressive collection of offensive skill: 4-star quarterback Ryan Hilinski (Orange, Calif.), 4-star wide receiver Jamario Holley (Rock Hill, S.C.), 4-star wide receiver Traevon Kenion (Monroe, N.C.), 3-star running back Kevin Harris (Hinesville, Ga.) and 3-star tight end Keshawn Toney (Williston Elko, S.C.). Kenion will play tight end.
What else is left for South Carolina in 2019?
Not much, because Kent State graduate transfer Shane Hynes and Clemson transfer Josh Belk will count toward the class, so the Gamecocks will sign no more than 23 prospects.

That 5-star
In January, SEC Country issued a handful of bold predictions, which included the notion that South Carolina could sign multiple 5-stars in 2019. With defensive end Zacch Pickens (Anderson, S.C.) already committed, the Gamecocks are halfway there, but landing No. 2 won’t be easy.
Crouch, the No. 14-ranked prospect in the country, is considering a handful of other schools, including Clemson, Michigan and Tennessee.
South Carolina is also in the mix for defensive tackle Travon Walker, who took an official visit earlier this month. Walker (Thomaston, Ga.) is cousins with current Gamecocks D.J. and Dylan Wonnum, but there are some heavy hitters in the rest of his lead group, namely Alabama, Clemson and Georgia.
Selective up front
Only a handful of spots are open for linemen on either side of the ball.
South Carolina has a trio of offensive linemen committed: 3-star tackle, Jaylen Nichols (Charlotte, N.C.), 3-star center Vincent Murphy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and 3-star tackle Mark Fox (Miami, Fla.).
Five defensive linemen are also on board: Pickens, 4-star end Joseph Anderson (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), 3-star junior college end Devontae Davis (Georgia Military College), 3-star end Rodricus Fitten (Atlanta, Ga.) and 3-star junior college tackle Jahkeem Green (Highland C.C.).
Four-star tackle Warren McClendon (Brunswick, Ga.), 3-star guard Jakai Moore and 3-star junior college tackle Anthony Whigan (Lackawanna C.C.) are the top remaining targets for the offensive side of the ball.
Even though he recently committed to N.C. State, South Carolina’s coaches won’t close the door on 4-star end Savion Jackson (Clayton, N.C.). Walker and Jaquaze Sorrells (Largo, Fla.) are thought to be the top remaining interior options.

Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson hosted most of their top defensive back options earlier this month, including 4-star cornerback Chris Steele (Bellflower, Calif.), 4-star junior college cornerback D.J. Daniel (Georgia Military College), 4-star cornerback Jaydon Hill (Madison, Ala.), 3-star cornerback Cameron Smith (Blythewood, S.C.), 3-star cornerback John Dixon (Tampa, Fla.) and 3-star athlete Jammie Robinson.
Steele is set to reveal his commitment in July and Southern California is the perceived favorite. Daniel, Smith and Robinson are believed to be deciding between South Carolina and Georgia. Hill is also considering Tennessee and Mississippi State. Penn State is the primary competitor for Dixon.
One notable target, 4-star safety Jaylen McCollough (Powder Springs, Ga.), did not return to Columbia during the Gamecocks’ camp. Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee round out his top four.
