Why Shane won’t name a starting QB ahead of South Carolina’s @ East Carolina

“Don’t know why I would,” Beamer said when asked if he’d name a starter ahead of the ECU contest. “I think Coach (Mike) Houston would love that. They’ve got to get ready for Dakereon Joyner. They’ve got to get ready for Luke Doty and Zeb (Noland).”

It's good logic. Our QBs bring different things to the table enough so that an opponent would have to invest time in preparing for each of them. Although Joyner didn't do a whole lot against Eastern Iliinois - he had a few direct-snap plays where he tucked the ball and ran, sort of a Wildcat QB. Would've been nice if he had a few passing plays so that could also be a factor with him - otherwise opponents will feel that any time Dak stands in behind center, expect him to run, run, run. Or perhaps that's what we're HOPING they would think??

Also very few long pass plays were attempted by us against Panthers. A few long gains that were mostly yards after the catch. Don't know if we're holding some big plays until later in the season, or if that's just what we were able to run with back-up QBs in the game. We'll see - App. State's QB was pretty efficient in his passing, even though he DID throw one pick....

Shane is going to bring positive, winning changes to the culture here that will be very similar to what Dabo has done at Clemson.

We have become so used to a single QB being a savior here because the rest of the team around has played awful.

We're going to have the luxury of depth at QB with Shane that we, quite honestly, haven't had since he left and his recruits matriculated out of the program.

By that, I mean stability and depth in other positions besides QB that will get other QBs enough PT that they won't desert the program as others have in the past.

With Beamer at the helm....everybody plays, and gets better every game, with more experience and less injuries. It is refreshing to see his total team philosophy.

May not have had long pass plays, but, receivers and seemed to have more YAC and receivers and RBs fell forward, more than backward. That seemed a marked difference from previous years and another mark of better coaching!
