Will Muschamp, Bobby Bentley send out Thanksgiving Day offersNov. 25, 2016

The South Carolina coaches sent out a pair of offers on Thanksgiving.

One went to 2019 defensive end Ani Izuchukwu, a 4-star from Davidson Academy in Nashville, Tenn. The other was sent to 2018 wide receiver Dennis Smith, who’s from Gaffney (S.C.) High School.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect got the word during a phone call with Muschamp and running backs coach Bobby Bentley, Smith’s area recruiter.

“(Muschamp) was telling me he saw my tape and it was impressive. He was telling me that I would be an asset for them in the future,” Smith said.

For Smith, “It’s big, especially it being in-state. That’s kind of big, in-state, because it’s home.”

Surprised?

“Definitely.”

South Carolina hosted him earlier this fall for the Tennessee game.

“It’s nice down there,” Smith said. “The fans are all into it. They’ve got a really good fan-base and nice facilities there.”

Clemson has hosted him for a couple of games this season. Duke and North Carolina are in contact and could be offering soon. Old Dominion was his first offer.

Smith considered a couple of factors he continues add offers during the recruiting process.

“Mainly, my education and my relationship with the people around me,” Smith said.

In seven games this season, he’s caught 41 passes for 745 yards with 7 touchdowns.
