Will Muschamp had some interesting things to say about USC’s midyear enrollees

South Carolina’s football team has 13 midyear enrollees who are already on campus and participating in team activities. Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp thinks that’s good news. Even better news is that he seems to be impressed with what he’s seen from them so far.
Muschamp updated his thoughts on most of the 13 midyear enrollees this week. Here are his comments:
Quarterback Dakereon Joyner (6-foot-1, 200 pounds): “He’s extremely athletic, and has all of the ‘It’ factor as far as the intangibles are concerned. His effort and his mental toughness. This is a very difficult process for these guys right now, doing the early morning runs and some things they have never done before, but you can see why he was 40-3 as a starter at Fort Dorchester High School. Really excited about him. He’s working extremely hard. He has all the intangibles you want at the position to positively affect everybody around him. We want guys who are going to help us win football games and if Dakereon is in that conversation, absolutely.”
Running back Lavonte Valentine (5-11, 190): “Excited about Lavonte.” Valentine won’t participate in spring practice due to a knee injury suffered in high school
Running back Deshaun Fenwick (6-1, 225): “He’s an explosive guy. He’s a guy that has to get used to the endurance and that part of it but excited about him.”
Wide receiver Darius Rush (6-2, 190): “The nutrition program has taken over for him, which is good.”
Center Hank Manos (6-4, 275): “Moves extremely well, great work ethic, really excited about Hank and his future in our program.”
Offensive lineman Wyatt Campbell (6-5, 290): “He will go through spring, but he’s not partaking right now.” Campbell has a meniscus injury.
Offensive lineman Max Iyama (6-5, 308): “Moves extremely well for a big man carrying that much weight.”
Defensive lineman Tyreek Johnson (6-2, 260): “Watching him move around, we are not playing football yet but you like the athleticism and the movement skills.
Defensive lineman J.J. Enagbare (6-4, 260): “A guy that really stands out. Really, really pleased to see his movement skills and competitive edge, which you always have to have in a young player.”
Linebacker Ernest Jones (6-2, 218): USC discovered a fracture in his back when he arrived on campus, and he will sit out spring practice. “We saw it on the tests when we came in so he’s probably going to miss spring, but he’s going to be fine after spring. He will be back playing ball, but they don’t want him to have any contact this spring.”
Linebacker Rosendo Louis (6-2, 245): “Runs extremely well for a big man, has pass rush ability, another guy that we are really excited about in our program.”
Defensive back RJ Roderick (6-0, 215): “Really competing well.”
Cornerback Israel Mukuamu (6-4, 195): “He will play corner. Watching him for three days, he has the feet, the change of direction. We are not playing football yet, but this guy’s got the skills to play on the edge and play outside.”
