WR Ahmari Huggins-Bruce enjoyed junior day visit with Gamecocks

WR Ahmari Huggins-Bruce of Dillon emerged as a major prospect in 2019 helping to lead the Wildcats to another championship game. He had 50 catches for 1003 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season. That has led to offers from Virginia Tech, Washington State, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Indiana, Duke, Louisville, Syracuse, Wake Forest, West Virginia, East Carolina, Boston College, NC State, South Florida, and several others.
Saturday Huggins paid a visit to USC for the last junior day of the month. He visited Tennessee two weeks before that. The visit with the Gamecocks opened his eyes to what is building in Columbia.
“It was like I expected, very good hospitality and all,” Huggins-Bruce said. “They showed us around campus, saw the weight room, talked to the coaches. Best I’ve seen so far. That’s the biggest weight room I’ve seen.”
USC is moving slowly with 2021 receivers at this point with two signed in December for the 2020 class and a potential third signee Wednesday in Ger-Cari Caldwell. Huggins said the situation was made clear to him by receivers coach Bryan McClendon.
“Me and BMac had a little conversation,” Huggins said. “He told me that he really wants to coach me. He signed two guys for the 2020 class and probably going to sign another one Wednesday, so he’s going to let me know. He was explaining to me what’s going on and telling me how he signed a lot of receivers for the 2020 class. He told me he just doesn’t throw out an offer because if he offers me that means I can commit.”
Huggins also has visited North Carolina and Wake Forest. He said his top group at this point consists of Virginia Tech, Louisville, Duke, West Virginia, USF, and East Carolina. He would like to make his decision before the season.
