WR Amari Jefferson set on three official visits, still talking with Gamecocks

USC receivers coach Justin Stepp has had WR Amari Jefferson (6-4 195) of Chattanooga on his watch list for months. Jefferson made an unofficial visit for a junior day in January. The trick now for Stepp is to get Jefferson back for an official visit.He has set three of his officials with Alabama June 9th, Georgia June 16th and Tennessee June 23rd.
“I talk to Coach Stepp a lot and we have a great relationship, so maybe they can get an official visit, but I haven’t talked with my parents yet about that,” Jefferson said. “I guess I could take one whenever they have one available that Is not a date that I’ve already got set up. He’s like, I’m his guy and I’m a top priority. He was supposed to come down to see me last week, but something happened, and then I got sick Tuesday. So, he’s coming down next week to see me.”
Jefferson said the Gamecocks are in his lead group, which used to number twelve, but is more like six now. He has Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama, along with USC, Miami and Penn State in that group. In the spring, Jefferson made two trips to Alabama. He also visited Clemson, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee and Colorado.
Jefferson said when he analyzes everyone as he tries to make a final decision later this summer, he’ll be looking for that place that checks a few important boxes for him.
“Somewhere I feel bests fits me and feels like home,” Jefferson said. “Somewhere I feel like I can play early. Somewhere where I feel like I have a good relationship with the coaching staff on a deeper level than just football.”
Jefferson is also a baseball prospect as a centerfielder, and the baseball programs also will be a factor. He has talked with USC baseball coach Mark Kingston but has not gone in depth with him about the program.
Last season, playing for former USC quarterback and tight ends coach Erik Kimrey, Jefferson caught 72 passes for 1370 yards and 17 touchdowns.
