WR Christian Owens of Griffin, GA signed his financial aid agreement with USC Tuesday. Owens is a mid-year enrollee and by signing the papers USC coaches are now able to have unlimited contact with him and talk publicly about him.
Owens originally committed to Georgia in 2013 but decommitted in mid-November. He made an official visit to USC for the final home game and committed soon after the visit.
At 6-5, Owens is the tallest of the four receivers USC has in the class. He’s also taller than the two tight end commitments who are listed at 6-4.
Owens is one of at least seven players who plan to join the Gamecock program in January. The others are junior college defensive end Marquavius Lewis and junior college linebacker Ernest Hawkins, both of whom will sign Wednesday, defensive lineman Dexter Wideman, linebacker Sherrod Pittman, LB Jalen Henry and defensive back Darin Smalls.
An eighth mid-year enrollee could be junior college linebacker Ulric Jones who is going to sign Wednesday with either USC or Maryland.
