WR Ze'Vian Capers still keeping Gamecocks as an option

WR Ze’Vian Capers of Alpharetta, GA was a prime USC target before committing to Arkansas in early February. That did nothing to cool the Gamecocks’ interest as they have kept up the contact thru Will Muschamp and Bryan McClendon. And that effort has paid off. Capers has kept his recruiting going and, in fact, is planning return visits to USC for the spring game and for an official visit April 26th.
“They tell me that I am still their top priority and since I have a lot of family members down there it would be a good environment and a good atmosphere,” Capers said. “I’ve always enjoyed their environment and it’s always been like a family environment. That’s the main reason why it would be a good time to go back up there. They have been on my tail.”
Capers actually liked Clemson a lot early on and then his focus for awhile shifted to USC. In fact, he was close to a Gamecock commitment after visiting January 26th. But he held off on that and surprisingly committed to Arkansas two weeks later. He’s still committed but he has some other SEC schools creeping up on the Razorbacks.
“South Carolina is still very high on my list,” he said. “Also, Tennessee is very high on my list. I’ve been looking at Florida recently. I haven’t visited since this past summer and I think we’re going to try go visit there.”
USC is the only official visit Capers has set at this point and he’s also planning to set dates to Arkansas and Tennessee. The Vols just offered and immediately became a factor.
“Tennessee has always been one of those schools I’ve always wanted to go to and I’m one of their top priorities, too,” Capers said. “I know my family and I have talked about hit and we’re going to visit up there soon to get a feel for the atmosphere and how I would fit in to their program.”
He’s not sure about the final two visits and he wants to take all five. He doesn’t plan to make his final decision until after those visits and he’s not planning to sign until February. He has taken unofficial visits this spring to Alabama and Georgia. Besides going to USC’s spring game, Capers is looking at going to Tennessee’s spring game April 13th as well.
Capers called the strength of his Arkansas commitment, on a 1-10 scale, a solid 8.5-9.
