Yardcocks vs SC Upstate game thread

Shakeups tonight all through Holbrook's lineup. Vergason had batted No. 2 past 8 games, he sits tonight, Schrock moves up from fifth spot
Iskenderian takes Vergason's place at third base, TJ Costen gets back on field in center (Carson played last 2 there), Bright stays in RF
Brison Celek will get his second start of the year at the DH spot
USC Upstate 2 Yardocks 0 bottom of the 1st Yardcocks got runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs

TOP 2 - Sean Sullivan replaces Saiko in left field. Hmm. Holbrook may just be tired of the base running errors. Let's see if Koumas can settle in a little bit and work ahead in this inning. He does just that against Miller and is up 0-2. Bouncer to third is fielded easily and thrown to first for the out. Greer hits a chopper to Pankake's left -- he plays a tough hop nicely and throws to first for the second out. Koumas gets a strikeout looking to end the inning. Easy inning for him there.
BOTTOM 2 - Bright shoots it into the gap in right-center and races to third for the leadoff stand-up triple. Iskenderian grounds out to second base, but it's a productive out as Bright will score. Rosenberg continues to hit the ball well, lines a single to right. Costen dumps a single into left field and the Gamecocks have runners at second and third with one out. Sullivan flies out deep to right field to allow Rosenberg to score and Costen to move up to third. Schrock lines the first pitch up the middle and USC takes a 3-2 lead. Now Pankake singles to center. Schrock digs for third and slides in safe. Pankake moves up to second on the throw. Upstate's pitcher is getting behind in counts and when he throws strikes Carolina is making him pay. Dantzler crushes this one but it's right at the right fielder to end the inning. Carolina leads 3-2.
TOP 3 - Lesch starts out the inning with a strikeout looking on a fastball. Bumgardner hits a bouncer to third. Iskenderian charges and picks the short-hop and throws on the run for the second out. Weber strikes out swinging but the ball gets away from Rosenberg and bounces way out in front of the pitcher's mound. Koumas fields it but has no play. It's scored a wild pitch. Seeba stands in. Koumas gets ahead 1-2 but his next pitch is extremely high and goes off Rosenberg's mitt as the runner moves up to second. Passed ball. Koumas throws two more balls and that's his third walk of the game. Patterson stands in with runners at first and second. He's now 2-for-2 on the night as he singles through the right side. Runner holds at third and the bases are loaded for Samples. Pankake to his left, he lays out and stabs it, then flips to Schrock covering second to barely get Carolina out of the inning. Carolina leads 3-2.
BOTTOM 3 - RHP Josh Howard on to pitch for Upstate. Howard has no easier time finding the plate than Cox as he walks Celek on four pitches to start the inning. Celek now moves up to second on a wild pitch that was way over the catcher's head. Bright appears to have his second hit of the night but the third baseman dives to his left and makes the stop then pops up and throws to first. Celek moves up to third on the throw. One down for Iskenderian, who beats out a chopper to the shortstop for the infield, RBI single. Gamecocks up 4-2 now. Rosenberg bounces into the 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. Carolina leads 4-2.
TOP 4 - Jack Wynkoop now in to pitch for the Gamecocks. Miller leads off the inning by dumping a single into center. Greer puts down the bunt to move Miller up as Wynkoop throws to first for the out. Stampler singles on a line drive up the middle and Upstate cuts the lead to 4-3. That's the first earned run Wynkoop has given up this season. Lesch grounds to Pankake who flips to second for the fielder's choice. Schrock can't quite get it out of his glove cleanly to turn two. Bumgardner grounds to Schrock who sidearms to first to end the inning. Carolina leads 4-3
BOTTOM 4 - Costen leads off the inning with what appears to be a fly out, but the left fielder misjudges it and it carries farther than it appeared off the bat. He should have caught it up but it's a double and the Gamecocks have eight hits on the night. Sullivan stands in. Wild pitch moves Costen up to third. Sullivan pops out to the center fielder but it's not deep enough for Costen to tag. Schrock strikes out swinging. Pankake and Celek both take walks. Bases are loaded for Celek for the second time tonight. He fairs much better this time as his shot to right center rolls to the wall and clears the bases. Gamecocks now lead 7-3. That's a career-high 3 RBIs for Celek with one swing of the bat. Bright makes a bid for left field but the shortstop makes a nice backhand and throws him out to end the inning. Carolina leads 7-3.
TOP 5 - Weber leads off the inning with a shot past a diving Iskenderian at third. It's fair for a double. Seeba takes a walk and runners are at first and second with nobody out. Meyers out to discuss things. Patterson is retired for the first time tonight as he flies out to centerfield. Weber moves up to third. Runners at the corners for Samples. Wynkoop strikes him out looking and will have a chance to get out of the inning unscathed. There's an easy fly ball to right. Bright makes the grab to end the inning. Carolina leads 7-3.
Cloninger: New pitcher for Upstate to start bot 5, Sobatka, RHP. He'll face Bright, Rosenberg, Costen
