A number of items salvaged from Yesterday's Restaurant In 5 Points will be auctioned off by the Wooten and Wooten Auction House in Camden, SC july 25th. No word yet on what will be available. Here is the article in The State regarding this. Other than the Cowboy in the tub, which I'll bet will go for a King's ransom, what would you like that you remember from eating there?

Would love the arched stain glass from the main dining room and one of the old gas pumps they had next to the bar at the wait station. Had some great GAMECOCK art work and memorabilia as well...

Those are going to go for thousands, perhaps 10s of thousands.

I actually met and shook hands with Pat Conroy there around 1989 and they had some framed autographed books of his there.

Why is it shutting down? Did the 'rona do it in?

Many will probably disagree, but Yesterday's never did much for me. I get that it was a 5-points icon for many, many years. I went there a few times as a student. Not that it was bad by any means, but never felt compelled to make it a regular spot.

It was heading towards closing it down. The owners were already thinking about retiring, but 'Rona and quarantine helped speed it up.

It was never a regular spot for me either. I think in the almost 20 years I've lived in Columbia that I have been there 3 times.

When I lived right by Five Points in the Eighties it was a good place to eat a healthy meal. Me and my roommates would go almost every Sinday night. It wasn't the cheapest place but back then ten dollars would pretty much cover dinner and a tip.

I can think of the 2 or 3 times I was there during my 4 years in college. Because I had a friend who worked there...
