Lummie Young
DB Lummie Young of Westside was offered by USC’s Will Muschamp last month and Saturday he got the chance to watch the Gamecocks practice and visit with the coaches.  And he left Columbia with the Gamecocks solidly his favorite after his first recruiting visit there.

“They are at the top of my list right now,” Young said.  “I’m pretty sure they know that and know that I really like it up there.  They (Muschamp and Travaris Robinson) say they can really see me playing for them and I could really help them in this defense.”

Young said he did not consider committing this weekend but he’d like to make his decision in early June.  He grew up a Clemson fan and has been hoping for an offer from the Tigers but that hasn’t materialized at this point.

Young said his visit with the Gamecocks allowed him to get a closer look at the secondary and also get closer with the coaches.

“I got to sit in on a team meeting and a defensive meeting and their position meeting,” Young said.  “I like how they practice in the secondary.”

Young is going to visit North Carolina April 2nd and Duke April 3rd.  He plans to return to USC for another spring practice or for the spring game.

Besides USC, Young has offers from Miami of Ohio, Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion and Charlotte.
