Young Georgia QB/DB Terian (TJ) Williams II spends Saturday with Gamecocks

A promising prospect in the 2022 class out of Georgia took in USC’s scrimmage Saturday. QB/DB Terian (TJ) Williams II (6-0 180) of Lilburn, GA attended summer camps at USC the last two years. Saturday, he got his first chance to see the Gamecock players and coaches at work. That view gave him an early idea what to expect from Will Muschamp as he builds his program, and recruits him for the future.
“The visit was good,” Williams said. “We watched the full practice and took a tour of the new facilities and met with the coaches. Coach BMac (Bryan McClendon) and (Coleman) Hutzler advised they will be up by Parkview High to take a look at me during spring practice and they will keep in touch with me.”
This was the first unofficial visit for Williams on the recruiting trail. He said the Gamecocks like him as an athlete, and he said that’s exactly what he is.
“I play both offense and defense,” Williams said. “My nickname, “Play-maker,” has stuck with me.”
Being so young in the recruiting game and just getting that engine started, Williams will take his time to learn about the programs pursuing him. He’s done some homework on USC.
“The Gamecocks have a good academic and football program,” he said. “The coaches are very intense and demanding of their players,as they should be. I’ve seen a few games on television and the game day atmosphere is like no other. It’s a school I will consider as I go through the recruiting process. The Gamecocks have a lot of athletes from Georgia on their roster and Columbia is close to Atlanta.”
Tennessee, Kentucky and Howard already have offered Williams, and he’s also drawing interest from Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Baylor, Ohio State, Texas, Southern Miss, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame. Other visits he plans to take this spring are Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, Florida State and Ohio State.
Nationally, Williams reputation is growing. He was the first freshman invited as a quarterback to the Elite 11 regional and as a DB to The Opening regional. He competed at the Elite 11 in Atlanta last weekend and will compete at The Opening in Charlotte later this month.
According to MaxPreps, Williams played seven games with the varsity last season passing for 60 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushing for 95 yards.
