Like to see where GCF members think our defense will be this year.

Defensive Ranks (2013)
Rushing D – 50th
Passing D – 12th
Scoring D – 12th
Total D – 19th

How do you think we fair in each of these categories in 2014 – Better or Worse?

Positions
DT
DE
LB
Spur
S
CB

How do you think the players will perform at each position – Better or Worse?

I think our defense will have a lot of passing yards on them, but not a lot of points. I think most teams will be playing from behind, hence them passing more, and our young DBs and DEs not being able to really stop it. Once the other teams get into the red zone though, I believe we'll be able to stop them with our safeties and linebackers in coverage and our DL being able to stop the run.

One things for sure... I'm not worried about our defense

I'd like to think our D was good last year, but we had lapses in the middle of the season.  Suppose we could be better in areas, but overall, should be worse without Clowney..

I think we had lapses until the LBs matured and stepped up.  That was a weakness going into 2013 if you recall.

Here are my rankings, for what it's worth:

DT - about the same

DE - about the same, maybe slightly worse

LB - much better

Spur - about the same

S - about the same

CB - worse....until the learning curve kicks in, then I think about the same.

We are gradually getting better on defense AND offense as well as we establish both program continuity and an overall winning culture.

Well, I think last year we had inexperienced secondary concerns as well, but looks like we got pieces coming in to solve that as well...
