TOP 1 - Jordan Montgomery to the mound for first pitch at 9:25 p.m. Heck drives an 0-2 pitch from Montgomery back up the middle and into centerfield. Got good wood on that for a leadoff single. Bradford pops out to center. Pirtle, the team's leading hitter at .344, hits a bouncer to Pankake. He gets the lead runner at second but relay not in time. Two down. Another bouncer to Pankake and he elects to throw to second, not first. It's true. No score.

BOTTOM 1 - Mooney goes down looking on an outside breaking ball from Fitts. Interesting note, or at least to me, is he went to the same high school as 2015 commit Sam Finnerty. Sam is also here tonight cheering on Carolina. This is his first game of the season. Schrock pops out to left and Martin bounces out to first base. Easy enough there for Fitts. No score

TOP 2 - Rea walks on a full count pitch. He went around trying to check his swing but first base umpire Scott Kennedy didn't see it the same way I and pretty much everyone else did. He goes to second on a bunt. Single to left puts runners at the corners by Humphreys. Armstrong hits a chopper that gets over Pankake's head and scores a run. Mooney gloves it but everyone is safe. Britton, the nine-hole hitter up, and grounds into a 6-4-3 double play. MSU leads 1-0

BOTTOM 2 - Greiner doubles down the third base line to begin the inning. Pulled the first pitch he saw. Pankake hits a bouncer towards the 5-6 hole, so it's in front of Greiner. He tries to take third anyway and is thrown out by a wide margin. Not smart base running there. I'm usually positive and don't get too hard on players but that one was pretty bone-headed. Pankake is safe at first. Arendas hits a bullet back up the middle and puts two on with one down for English, who swings at the first pitch and gets a hold of it to left. It's caught deep enough to get Pankake to third. Game should be tied as Greiner should have moved to third on Arendas' single and English's fly ball would have got him home. But alas, it's runners at the corners with two down for Bright. He goes ahead in the count 2-0. Bright grounds out 4-3 to end the inning. MSU leads 1-0.

TOP 3 - Top of the order already back up for the Bulldogs. Heck goes down on strikes. Nice work there by Monty, who starts off Bradford with a 93 mph fastball, according to the scoreboard gun. Monty rarely at 93, so that gun may be a mph or two hot. He reaches on an infield single. Hard bouncer to Martin's right. Monty is a big dude and not the fleetest of foot. Fast runner. Both players get there about the same time but MSU's guy was a half-step quicker. One on, one out. Walk. Two on, one out. Montgomery misses with an inside fastball on the payoff pitch to load the bases for Rea. He hits a hard ground ball to Mooney's right. He makes a diving stop and throws out the runner at second base. Can't turn two though. Run scores, runners at the corners. Henderson hits another hard single through the left side to bring in another run. Monty gets Humphreys to pop out to right though but more runs and damage. MSU leads 3-0

BOTTOM 3 - Gene Cone works a walk and takes second on a wild pitch. Mooney up and works the count full. He walks. Not overly smart to walk the first two hitters with a three-run lead. That'll end Fitts' day. LHP Lindgren coming in. Schrock bunts the runners up. He goes ahead on Martin 1-2. Martin barely got a piece of a breaking ball to stay alive. He's then behind a fastball that the scoreboard says was 96. That's bringing it. I'm thinking 2 mph fast though. Greiner goes down on strikes to end the inning. Yuck. MSU leads 3-0.

TOP 4 - Eight-hole hitter Armstrong hits a line drive that Arendas picks up off his shoetops. Probably should have thrown to first anyway as there was some question whether he caught it cleanly or picked it up on the skip. Umpires rule (correctly) that he caught it, but better not take any chances. Nine-hole hitter Britton walks and Heck goes ahead in the count 3-1. Runner starts and Heck hits a ground ball to short. Britton safe at second but Heck out at first. Two down, runner in scoring position. RBI single to right by Bradford scores another. Jerry Meyers comes to the mound. Taylor Widener coming in. He gets Pirtle to pop out to English in center to end the inning but this one is starting to get away early. MSU leads 4-0

BOTTOM 4 - Two quick outs for Lindgren. Pankake hits a bouncer in the dirt in front of the catcher, who makes the play. Arendas then bounces out. English's chopper to third is fielded cleanly and thrown to Rea to get him by a step. MSU leads 4-0.

TOP 5 - Taylor Widener back to the mound. He gets cleanup hitter Collins to pop up on the infield for the first out of the inning. Pair of ground ball outs going Arendas to Martin end the inning. Final out was a bit of a challenging one as Arendas had to charge to his right and throw across his body to get the speedy Henderson. MSU leads 4-0.

BOTTOM 5 - Bright goes down to begin the inning. Cone hits a bullet but right at the centerfielder. Can't do much more than that. Two down. Mooney down on strikes to end the inning. After squandering a couple of early chances at the plate, Lindgren has come in and quieted the Gamecocks. MSU leads 4-0.

TOP 6 - Widener doing a nice job so far. Bright catches a deep fly ball towards the corner for the first out of the inning. Armstrong grounds out to third base for the second out. Arendas makes a slick play to his left sliding in the outfield on a sharply-hit ground ball. He's turned in some nice defensive plays tonight already. MSU leads 4-0.

BOTTOM 6 - Doesn't look like the Gamecocks' night tonight. Schrock hit a bullet down the first base line. Rea makes a diving play to his glove side, hops up and gets to the bag before Schrock. Man. Can't buy a break. Martin goes down on strikes. So does Greiner. MSU leads 4-0.

TOP 7 - A pair of singles off Widener put runners at the corners for Brett Pirtle. Jerry Meyers visits the mound. He doesn't say the right things. Pirtle hits an absolute bomb to right field. Ball carried way out. Reed Scott now coming in. He's greeted to the game with a single by Collins. Rea hits a deep fly ball to left but Cone makes the catch. Bullet by Henderson to center and Scott is getting knocked around a little bit already. Three balls hit hard. Another hot shot. This one is fielded by Pankake, who steps on the bag for one out but the throw to first isn't close. Gets past Martin and into right field. Another run comes in to score. RBI single by Armstrong. Ugly, ugly. Reed Scott isn't missing any bats. Vince Fiori coming in to pitch now. It's 9-0, two down. Logan Koch also catching. Chopper takes a high hop over Arendas' head and rolls into shallow center. Scored a base hit. Runners on the corners with two down. Double down the right field line. Bright tries to throw the runner out at second base. No can do. Mooney tries to throw a runner out at home. No can do. Runner at third, two outs. Fiori with a walk. Fiori hits a guy. Hunter Privette coming in now. Count goes full on pinch hitter Vickerson. Privette walks in a run. No one else getting loose in the bullpen. This is Privette's game. He gets Rea swinging to end the inning but eight runs put up. MSU leads 12-0

BOTTOM 7 - RHP Myles Gentry looking to try to finish this one off. Gets a pair of pinch hitters - Jordan Gore and Patrick Harrington - to strike out. Brison Celek the last hope. This is looking like the first time the Gamecocks have been run-ruled since 2006 by Vanderbilt. Celek bounces out 6-3 to end the game.

I have no words to reflect my dissapointment
