***2021 Baseball Columbia Regional: South Carolina (33-21) vs Virginia (29-23) Game Thread***

We battled and won. The 6th was the big inning, with Wes Clarke hitting the ground rule double, then Josiah Sightler followed with a 2 RBI double of his own to tie the score 3-3. Then after a UVA pitching change, Brennan Milone is walked, and then Colin Burgess singles to left field where the Cavalier left fielder muffs the ball, allowing Sightler to advance all the way from 2B to score the final run on the error.....

South Carolina moves to the next game tomorrow night at 7 PM. between the winner between Old Dominion and Jacksonville. ODU is the #1 Seed for this Regional, but #4 Seed Jacksonville is jumping all over them in the top 1st inning - they are up now 3-0 with 2 men on the corners, and 2 outs....

Jacksonville now leads 3-2 after giving 2 runs back to Old Dominion, but ODU's starting pitcher was hit hard by a comeback grounder in the leg, and was limping badly. He's been taken out of the game in the top 2nd with 0 outs.....

Now 4-3 ODU in the 3rd inning. Looks like a crazy game developing......

Our hitting is so inconsistent.  Either ODU or Jax could beat us with the right pitcher.

That's true. We have to hope that either team does not have the depth at pitching to stay with us, however. That is usually what separates these mid-majors from the power conference teams....

In the Fort Worth Regional, Dallas Baptist beat Oregon St. 6-5 and McNeese is up 2-1 on #6 TCU T6.

Dallas Baptist has had a very strong baseball program for a good while. One of the stronger mid-major programs....

Charlotte beating the Terps 12-5 in T6 in Greenville Regional.

Wow Wright State took a 8-5 lead over Tennessee into the bottom 9th, and lose 9-8 off of a walk-off grand slam.....

Still 4-3 Old Dominion in the top 9th inning. Jacksonville's last chance to at least tie the game. They have 2 outs, but have men on 3B and 2B. It's coming down to the wire.....

Jacksonville grounds out for the final out of the game. Old Dominion wins Game 2 4-3, and will face South Carolina tomorrow night in Game 4 at 7 PM. Jacksonville moves into the Loser's Bracket and will face Virginia in Game 3 at noon tomorrow....
