***2021 Baseball Columbia Regional: South Carolina (34-21) vs Old Dominion (43-14) Game 4 Thread***

1-1 Top 8th inning:

Farr still in there. The lead-off batter singles. The next batter singles. Trouble....

The next batter hits to Farr, he's out at 1st but the base runners advance to 3B and 2B. 1 out.

The next batter pops up to Callil at Short. 2 outs. The next batter is intentionally walked to load the bases. Nail biting time here.

Farr has thrown 96 pitches thus far.....

We can't give up even 1 run here, the way our own bats have been hitting.......

Full count to the pitcher. DAMMIT Farr walks the batter and drives in a run. ODU now leads 2-1. This has all the makings of an explosion here to kill off the game.....

Will Sanders comes in for Farr. Thomas pitched heroically, but he was a lone man on the diamond out there tonight for South Carolina......

Sanders gets the final out of the inning. Now we have TWO innings to get at least ONE run to get back into the game. Milone, Wimmer, and Burgess due up.....

A new pitcher finally comes in for Old Dominion. Will we be able to hit him, or do we need 2-3 innings to figure him out? We don't have that kind of time......

Milone strikes out swinging. 9 Ks for the Gamecocks thus far. Wimmer strikes out swinging. Our batters are looking totally clueless and overwhelmed. Burgess strikes out swinging.....

man......

2-1 ODU top 9th........

No matter what happens next, I can salve my hurt feelings by thinking of the Florida Gators getting bum-rushed in the alley that is their own regional 19-1 by South Alabama. They go 0-2 and are done on the season, after being the pre-season #1 ranked team...

2-1 ODU bottom 9th inning:

Joe Satterfield flies out for Out #1.

Jeff Heinrich pinch hits for Callil. Heinrich lines out to 1st for Out #2.

Allen is hit by a pitch to put the tying run on. Six (6) Gamecocks HBP tonight thus far. Hit the next 3 Gamecock batters, dude!

Eyster up next. Allen advances to 2B on a passed ball.

Eyster strikes out for the final out.

Old Dominion wins against the impotent bats of South Carolina 2-1. They get to rest early tomorrow, while the Gamecocks return to face a rested Virginia in the Losers Bracket tomorrow at noon......

Everyone should already know their job and what it takes to be successful and maintain that success at this point in the season.

Kingston's decision to leave Farr in so long to conserve the bullpen for today's game and one tomorrow, if we make it that far, was about the only one he could have made last night.

Hopefully we can beat UVA again today and get another shot at ODU on Monday.
