No. 1 South Carolina Faces No. 2 Connecticut For The Battle 4 Atlantis Championship

PARADISE ISLANDS, BAHAMAS | NOV. 22, 2021 | 12:00 P.M. (EST)

WATCH: ESPN | LISTEN LIVE: 107.5 FM THE GAME | LIVE STATS: STATBROADCAST

Paradise Islands, Bahamas - The #1 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks (5-0) face off with the #2 ranked Connecticut Huskies (3-0) in a battle of titans for the championship of the inaugural 2021 Bad Boy Mowers Women's Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament Monday (Nov. 22nd). Tip-off is at 12:00 p.m. (EST), and the game will be televised by ESPN.

Connecticut leads the Gamecocks at the half 36-33. CT took the 1st quarter 20-14, but then the Gamecocks came back and took the 2nd qtr. 19-16. Both teams are closely contested: CT leads in shooting Fg % 48% to 45%, USC leads in rebounds 21-13.

Aliyah Boston leads the Gamecocks with 11 pts and Zia Cooke also has 11 pts. Bueckers lead the Huskies with 13 pts, and Westbrook has 11 pts.....

Gamecocks out-score the Huskies 24-18 to retake the lead at the end of three quarters 57-54. A lot of fouls called on the Gamecocks in that quarter - Boston, Cooke, Beal, and Amihere each with 3 fouls now. No one with CT with 3, so this could become a problem. One more quarter to play.....

73-57 final.  Great 2nd half.  Dawn made adjustments and the ladies stepped it up on the defensive end.  Great way to finish it.  Outscored them 40-21 in the 2nd half.

The Gamecocks outscored the Huskies 16-3 in the final period, and 40-21 after halftime. They forced the Huskies into 1-10 shooting for the final period, with 4 turnovers over the final 5 minutes of play.

Aliyah Boston led the Gamecocks with 22 pts on 10-19 shooting, with 15 rebounds, and 1 block. The super guards of the Gamecocks stepped up today - Zia Cooke scored 17 pts on 8-17 shooting, with 3 steals. Destiny Littleton added 6 pts on 2-4 from behind the 3-pt. line, with 2 rebounds and 1 steal.

Paige Bueckers led the Huskies as expected with 19 pts on 8-19 shooting, with 7 assists, and 5 boards. Evina Westbrook added 14 pts on 4-6 shooting. The Huskies fall to 3-1 on the season.

Both teams will replay this later in the season, as they both are scheduled to meet in Colonial Life Arena in late January, as part of their regular home-and-home match-up. I'm sure that game will once again be in front of a sellout Gamecock crowd......

Not sure who the spark plug that scheduled a noon tip-off was, but thanks for nothin', ESPN.

I guess they didn't want a conflict with MNF.

Screw ESPN.  Great win, though.

Oh, well.
