Columbia, S.C. - The South Carolina Gamecocks Football team opens the Shane Beamer Era today (Saturday) with the season opener against FCS member Eastern Illinois (0-1). The Eastern Illinois Panthers of the Ohio Valley Conference, come into the game having lost it's season opener the previous Saturday to Indiana State in a close 26-21 decision. Tonight's game will be Head Coach Beamer's first game as head of a collegiate program, and the first game since 2019 that will allow for a full capacity crowd at Williams-Brice Stadium, due to the covid pandemic.
Tonight's game will be streamed live by SECN+ and ESPN+. Bill Roth, the longtime play-by-play voice of the Virginia Tech Hokies will call the action for the livestream. He will be joined in the booth by former Florida Gator standout Chris Doering. Alex Chappell will patrol the sidelines. The familiar voices of Carolina Hall of Famers Todd Ellis and Tommy Suggs handle the call for the Gamecock Radio Network with Jamar Nesbit on the sidelines.
