***2021 OFFICIAL GAME-DAY THREAD GAME #4: SOUTH CAROLINA VS KENTUCKY***

Any player that goes down with a leg cramp should be forced to sit out at least 2 plays.  So tiring watching teams fake injuries to stop another teams momentum.

Gamecocks lose 16-10 to fall to 2-2 (0-2).

What killed us was relying too much on 1-yd and 2-yd per play rushing offense all 1st half, which stagnated our offensive chances. We essentially gave UK a free half of football, and then chose for the 2nd half to finally try to play offense. Relied too much on Harris when we're supposed to have a deep depth of talented RBs - where was White? Where was Lloyd? Hindsight is great and all, but when you're struggling to gain any positive yds with one back, give the next back a chance to try to do better. Especially when those other backs are supposed to be talented and capable.

More game beefs:

Relied too much on throwing the ball to Jalen Brooks. Brooks is still dealing with issues of dropping passes. We had 17 receptions on 25 targets, but only 4 receptions on 9 targets to Brooks. The others were 13 on 16 targets. Not sure if it was just Brooks who was getting open more than the others, but the others were making catches too, and much more effectively.

Our defense won the turnover battle 3 to 0 on an interception and two fumbles, but our offense was unable to get ANY points out of them.

We had a 4th and 5 at the UK 25 yd line, and went for it with a pass play to Brooks. He dropped it. It would've been a 42-yd FG for Parker White that would have gotten the score to 13-10 UK. Later on we allowed Parker to hit a 54-yarder and he did.

We come out for the 2nd half throwing the ball - FINALLY - and drive down the field to score our only touchdown. We're now back in the game! Then our defense - who played great the entire 1st half - allows UK to drive down themselves. They stopped them for only a FG, but it muted our own seizure of the momentum.

Just left the stadium, sitting in parking lot wondering wtf I just witnessed. Complete ineptitude, that's what. So disgusted with our offense. Play calling, ground game, O line, all atrocious. Hardesty and Adkins, is that the best we can do? Satterfield, not impressed AT ALL. Bizarre, stupid play calling. Just a shockingly bad performance. Terrible outlook for the season.

We had like 4 turnovers but I think we put zero points up on those. pathetic. going for it on 4th and 3 at the 25 was a bonehead call, but wouldn't have mattered in the end.

The more things change the more they stay the same.  Check out this post from 2 years ago on this very forum.

Gamecocks shake up of offensive line has had no impact so far

Nov. 26, 2019

Muschamp started making changes on the offensive line right after a poor performance in the season opener. The coaching staff now has toyed around with more changes heading into the rivalry game against Clemson Saturday. Muschamp promised changes in the running game through the weeks, and it seems each changeup or tweak hasn’t been very effective. The team has averaged fewer than 2.7 yards per carry in three of the past four games. (VIEW ARTICLE)
