Source: 49ers QB Purdy has torn UCL in elbow

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.

Purdy is seeking second medical opinions about whether he needs surgery, which the 49ers are recommending, the source told Schefter.

The injury is expected to sideline Purdy for six months regardless of his decision on surgery, the source told Schefter.

Sucks Purdy got knocked out at the start of the game. Not saying 'niners would have won, but they built their offensive scheme around his skill set.

Niners are so good across the board that they might have won this game with a serviceable QB, which they didn't have due to injuries.

Kyle Shanahan adapted and made it the NFC championship game with 3 different QBs in the same season. That's coach of the year in many people's books.
