USC has identified 2018 TE Zach Sheffer 6'3" 221lbs of Ponte Vedra, FL as one of its top targets for the position in the next recruiting campaign and Sheffer is highly interested in the Gamecocks at this point.
“We communicate fairly regularly,” Sheffer said. “Coach Washington came by school during the season to see me. I like USC. I went to the Texas AM game and thought it was a great atmosphere. I like how they’re redoing their facilities and Hayden (Hurst) seemed to be a big part of the offense. They like how I’m a true hybrid tight end. I can flex out or put my hand in the ground.”
Sheffer is a highly regarded prospect and his offer list includes Ohio State, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Duke, LSU, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest and Auburn.
Sheffer is not ready to declare any leader or a list of favorites.
“Still making my rounds to see as many schools as possible,” he said. “Haven’t seen enough of the schools that have offered me to be able to say who’s a favorite.”
Sheffer attends Nease High School, the school where Tim Tebow played his high school football while he was home-schooled.
