June 22, 2017
Four-star offensive tackle Michael Tarquin, who’s ranked by 247Sports as the No. 13 offensive tackle in the Class of 2019, visited South Carolina earlier this month.
Tarquin, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect from Belleview (Fla.) High School, also stopped by Auburn, Clemson, Michigan and Ohio State.
“They were all really good. It’s kind of hard to name one that I thought was the best, but I thought Clemson and Michigan stood out to me a lot,” Tarquin said.
During the trip to South Carolina, which was his third visit to the school, Tarquin spent time with coach Will Muschamp and offensive line coach Eric Wolford.
“(Wolford) really wants me to be there,” Tarquin said. “He really wants me there.”
The Gamecocks offered in March.
“I really like it. Really nice campus and I really liked the city as well,” Tarquin said.
A trip to Miami has been set for their showcase camp in July. In the fall, he’ll get back on the road for some more visits.
“I’m still thinking about it, but it’d like to go to Clemson, Michigan, maybe South Carolina and Miami, maybe Ohio State,” Tarquin said.
Within a few months of the end of this football season, he’ll announce a commitment.
“The people. Who am I going to be spending all of my time with? Who am I going to be playing football with, training with – all of that good stuff – the coaches, my future teammates,” Tarquin said. “Do I like the campus? How is it going to set me up for after football? How is the academic factor with it all?”
