A trio of 4-star prospects from the state of Tennessee visited South Carolina on Thursday for the Will Muschamp Football Camp.
Weak-side defensive end Ani Izuchukwu, who attends Davidson Academy in Nashville, was the highest-rated prospect in the bunch, checking in as the state’s No. 6 overall player in the Class of 2019, according to 247Sports.
Two spots behind him in the rankings is Nashville-Franklin Road Academy’s Lance Wilhoite, the No. 23-ranked wide receiver in the country. Nashville-Ensowrth cornerback Wesley Walker, the ninth overall prospect in Tennessee’s 2019 haul, rounded out the group of 4-stars.
But they were the only campers in the traveling party. The trio was joined 2019 prospect Chris Akporoghene, an offensive lineman who attends The King’s Academy in Seymour, who’s listed at 19 in the state rankings.
Also with the group was Atascocita High School (Humble, Tex.) defensive back Alex Morris, an unranked 2018 prospect with offers from Indiana, Louisville and Memphis.
Heading into Thursday’s visit, Izuchukwu, Wilhoite and Akporoghene had already been offered by the Gamecocks.
For assistant coach Mike Peterson, Izuchukwu was the only “Buck” in camp on Thursday, so the two had plenty of 1-on-1 time. Defensive line coach Lance Thompson was also nearby throughout the afternoon, before the group departed returned to Tennessee.
After the camp, Akporoghene was spotted with offensive line coach Eric Wolford, assistant strength coach Corey Miller and right tackle Zack Bailey.
Izuchukwu and Akporoghene are both natives of Nigeria.
