The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder was committed to Georgia at one time before opening the process up and considering Miami and South Carolina. Those two programs hosted him on back to back weekends for official visits, with the Gamecock staff garnering the final trip last weekend.

"I chose South Carolina because I felt like it was a better place for me,."The coach that went to my high school and recruited me at UGA is at South Carolina now."

The four-star product has a strong relationship with the aforementioned coach, assistant Bryan McClendon, who is a Mays alumnus. Davis also carried offers from Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, and numerous others.

Davis hopes to make an early impact in Columbia.

"They said they were going to try to work me at all three spots to keep me on the field," he said. "It’s a three receiver set with tempo. I feel like I can play early as a freshman and make things happen."

The weekend official visit to USC helped to put things over the top for the Gamecocks.

"It was really nice.I felt at home and really comfortable. I felt like I was still in Georgia."
