Lets keep the momentum going. Hopefully the team doesn't let off of the pedal with the excitement of their win over Maryland - Dayton is not quite as good a team as the Terps, but they aren't too far behind them.....

The Gamecocks will be seeing an old friend tonight in our game versus Dayton: Former 5-star PG and former Gamecock Araion Bradshaw, who transferred to Dayton after her freshman season during South Carolina's national championship season of 2016-17. Bradshaw became eligible for the Flyers last season, and is a starter for them this season.....

Ty Harris picked up her 2nd foul 4 minutes into the game, so she will have to sit out the rest of the 1st half, but it looks like we aren't needing her. Gamecocks are pulling away early, and Dayton is not making any of their shots.....

Zia Cooke is playing close to her home, and has a lot of friends and family there to watch her play. She's giving them a show by scoring 10 points in the first Quarter, as South Carolina takes a 22-6 lead at the end of the Qtr.....

Well, some ugliness on the part of our youngsters. The bench got to play the last half of the 2nd quarter - even Wesolek and Thompson got minutes - and things turned a bit sour. Five (5) turnovers in the last 2.5 minutes of the half, plus 3-4 fouls to boot.

But the Gamecocks still have total control of this game, and and take a 41-21 lead into the halftime break. Zia Cooke leads the team with 13 pts in 13 minutes, and both Victaria Saxton and Aliyah Boston have 7 pts each on combined 6-6 shooting. The Gamecocks are shooting 56% to 18% for the Flyers, and have out-rebounded Dayton the Flyers 27-17, but have only shot 50% (8-16) from the FT line, and have 12 turnovers in the half that have made this game even closer than it should be....

Gamecocks win 75-49, to improve to 3-0. Zia Cooke led the Gamecocks with a career high 27 pts and 7 rebounds, Victaria Saxton had 13 pts, Aliyah Boston had 11 pts and only 2 boards, and Herbert-Harrigan had 10 pts. Despite Boston's low rebound turnout, the team still pulled down 52 caroms to maintain their per-game average.

The Gamecocks will next host Appalachian State this Sunday at 2:00 pm.......

Spoiler
Our team is loaded with allstars.  When (hopefully sooner than later) they get all cylinders clicking, they are going to be nasty.  Boston looked like cash money with the ball under the basket.  If they can play unselfish ball then the sky's the limit.  I really couldn't find much of a glaring weakness in this team tonight.  Admittedly, this is the first game I've seen them play this year, but they looked like a team in midseason form to me.

They still made a few early season mistakes but the D was very strong. They held Dayton to 22% FG and 28% 3PT while making 46% FG and 50% 3PT.

Also, playing all 11 players is good for the starters and great for the other players.

This is going to be a strong team for the next couple years. 2 SR's, 1 JR and the rest are all FR and SO. She had 3 FR start tonight and one of them is Zia Cooke with her 27 pts.

Zia wasn't as polished as the others with the initial pressers when they got on campus this year, but I got the feeling she was just going to be a baller for us regardless.

I was unable to watch or listen to the game.

Did we look like we had a physical hangover from the Maryland game?
