An early presence: South Carolina first to offer blossoming in-state wide receiver Jacoby PinckneyJuly 14, 2016
Last month, after a solid showing at the Will Muschamp Football Camp, South Carolina gave 2019 wide receiver Jacoby Pinckney his first offer.
The 6-foot-3, 192-pound rising sophomore at Dorman High School recently spoke with SEC Country about the Gamecocks offer.
“It meant a lot to be honest with you, I didn’t grow up a Carolina fan but I think I’m a legit fan now,” he said, “And most people don’t land an SEC offer as their first. It really just put my name out there more.”
Pinckney enjoyed his work with the South Carolina coaches.
“It was intense, but it just had a home atmosphere. Coach (Bryan McClendon) is a great coach (wide receiver coach). I just felt comfortable,” he said. “One thing that stuck out to me was just the fact that everybody on the staff was real and straight forward with everything.”
As a freshman, Pinckney spent time on both the varsity and jayvee squads at Dorman High School in Roebuck, S.C. He’ll take on a more prominent role with the Cavaliers in 2016.

Next Saturday, he’ll head back to Columbia for the SpursUp Cookout, to spend more time with the South Carolina coaches.
“Coach Muschamp told me there isn’t any pressure on me, that I should visit as many schools as possible so I know that’s where I really want to be,” Pinckney said. “That really stood out. I talk to coach (Bobby) Bentley about every week, so I have a really good relationship with him.”
