April 10, 2017

Joyner sets Bama visit

Four-star quarterback Dakereon Joyner announced on Sunday that he’s scheduled a visit to Alabama. Joyner, who’s ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback in the country, lists Alabama, Georgia, N.C. State and Oregon as his finalists alongside South Carolina.

Joyner (North Charleston, S.C.) is planing to visit Alabama and Oregon before announcing his commitment on Father’s Day.

Top 8 for Harris

Three-star wide receiver Jatavious Harris released a top 8 video Sunday night, which included South Carolina, along with SEC East foes Florida and Tennessee. Minnesota, West Virginia, Miami, Louisville and Pittsburgh also made the cut.

Harris (Milledgeville, Ga.) is the No. 118 ranked wide receiver in the class of 2018.

Seven for Horn

Three-star cornerback Jayce Horn (Alpharetta, Ga.) released a top 7 video on Sunday night, which included South Carolina, along with Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Ohio State and Wake Forest.

Horn, who’s ranked as the No. 59 cornerback in the country, is close friends with Harris and the two have talked about playing together at the next level.

The Gamecocks and Vols are the only two teams found on their respective lists.

Other weekend notes

Minnesota graduate transfer defensive end Gaelin Elmore wrapped up his official visit to Arizona on Sunday, before departing for South Carolina, where he’ll visit through Tuesday.

However, as of Sunday night, he’d yet to arrive to Columbia.

On Friday, South Carolina offered 2018 tight end Tommy Tremble, making it SEC tender No. 3 for the 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect from Alpharetta, Ga. A day later, while on campus in Athens, Tremble picked up an offer from Georgia.

On the basketball recruiting front, South Carolina is one of several offers for Pittsburgh transfer Cam Johnson, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound shooter whose SEC offers include Florida, Kentucky and Ole Miss.
