3 of the other 4 players who visited this weekend committed, so hopefully he wanted to join the party as well....

It is hard to underestimate how much better we have gotten between signing day and the portal.

The Gamecocks now count 30 in their 2022 class including signees, commitments and transfers who have to count in the class.
Just for comparison where we were at this time last year.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Dec. 27, 2020) -- University of South Carolina head football coach Shane Beamer has named seven assistants who will be part of his initial coaching staff in 2021, pending approval of the UofSC Board of Trustees, which holds its next scheduled meeting on Jan. 4, 2021.

Four coaches – offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo, running backs coach Des Kitchings, defensive line coach Tracy Rocker and outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson – will be retained from the Gamecocks' 2020 staff. In addition, Connor Shaw will return in a to-be-determined, off-the-field role within the football program.

Joining the Carolina staff for the first time in 2021 are Will Friend, who was named the offensive line coach, former Gamecock quarterback Erik Kimrey, who will serve as the tight ends coach, and Pete Lembo, who will be the Gamecocks' associate head coach/special teams coordinator.
Then Bobo, Rocker, and Kitchings left.

Satt and White were announced on the 1-10-2021 and the rest of the staff positions were filled by 2-8-2021.

Hard to recruit with all that stuff going on last year and then Shane was not a known entity as a HC, either.

So this time around, Shane just has to finish out his recruiting class and fill Mike Peterson's position.

Looking forward to what who we will get in the next 30 days.

Weeks, the LB, is scheduled to visit Friday. He'll be at LSU tomorrow and was at SoCal last weekend. If we could pull him it would be incredible. Of the 6 portal additions so far, 4 are instant starters (QB, TE, WR, FS) and two are either starters or next up (RB, DE). That is transformative.

Be interesting to see how we get down to the 85 number. 8 or 9 have to leave.

Thoughts?
We played last year with I think was only 70 Scholarship players. Only thing is now is how many you can bring in 25 high school and 7 portals leaves open 2 High School and 1 or 2 portals spots to go....
