“My final four, which is Florida State, Alabama, Auburn and Oe Miss, all have a legitimate chance,” Jones said Sunday night.
With Auburn, the depth chart is what’s most appealing to Jones.
“With their situation next year and with the 2015 class coming in, coach doesn’t feel like he wants to play a bunch of freshman at tackle,” Jones said. “They’re losing every nose they’ve got. Other than Montravius Adams, everybody in the middle will be gone, other than the freshman. Their situation to any defensive tackle would be great.”
Jones officially visited Auburn three weeks ago, and has remained in regular contact with Tigers defensive line coach Rodney Garner
“Man, he wants me bad — I mean bad,” Jones said. “I hear it in the tone of his voice. He’s expressed how bad he needs junior college defensive tackles. And with me being the No. 1 guy, I can tell how bad."
As for his verbal to Florida State and why he’s still talking to other schools, Jones noted, “I fell in love with FSU, but I felt like there was more out there.”
Mid-year junior college transfers can sign beginning Dec. 17. According to Jones, he plans to sign his letter-of-intent that day.
His next visit will be to Ole Miss for the Egg Bowl in two weekends.
Jones has 28 tackles and four sacks this season for EMCC, the No. 1-ranked team in junior college.
