USC is the lone SEC wolf on the offer sheet of OL[COLOR= rgb(178, 34, 34)] Pete Leota [/COLOR](6-5 307) of Asheville, NC. The ACC schools competing with the Gamecocks are North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Wake Forest. Leota also has offers from East Carolina, Appalachian State and Georgia Southern.
Leota’s only visit this spring was to Virginia Tech for the spring game. He has seen coaches from USC, Boston College, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and North Carolina come thru his school during the evaluation period.
The Gamecocks are making a strong push for Leota and he’s got strong interest in them at this point. He has never visited but he plans to this summer.
“I really love that school,” he said. “Coach Elliott sees me as a good fit in the SEC and South Carolina. They are recruiting me hard. He’s in touch with me every day.”
Leota said he has not favorites at this point and is looking at a decision in late summer or during his season.
“I’m just going with the flow,” he said. “I’ll pick the best school and the best fit for me.”
Leota plays offensive tackle.
