South Carolina quarterback commit Jake Bentley (Opelika, Ala.) has completed the academic coursework needed for him to graduate from high school and is now on his way the Columbia, S.C., to begin his career with the Gamecocks.

Bentley confirmed the news to TheBigSpur.com en route to Columbia on Thursday afternoon.

This means Bentley will enroll at USC for Summer I and go through Summer workouts with his teammates in preparation for preseason practice.

Bentley, who was one of the top quarterback prospects in the country for the Class of 2017, elected to graduate from high school early and enroll at South Carolina as a recruit from the 2016 cycle. He gives the Gamecocks two Elite-11 signal callers in the 2016 class as Brandon McIlwain enrolled for the spring semester and is listed as a co-starter with Perry Orth heading into the summer.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Bentley is the son of Gamecocks running backs coach Bobby Bentley.
