Blanton will lean heavily on spiritual guidance in making the decision

3 star LB Stone Blanton 6,3" 215lbs of Madison, MS, who doubles as a major college baseball prospect, took official visits to Ole Miss and Mississippi State the last two weekends. In the summer he made official visits to USC, Louisville and Stanford. His final four have been USC, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Texas A&M, which he visited unofficially in June.

Blanton has not set a timeline for a decision, and as thinks about what he wants to do, he’s relying on a higher power for guidance.

“I’m still praying about it.  Wherever God leads me is where I’m trying to go,” Blanton said.   I’m talking it over with my family and all that.  That’s where I’m at right now. Just going to pray about it.  Pray about it, pray about it.  That’s my plan right now.”

Blanton has been a Mississippi State baseball commitment, but his decision will be football-based. He went back to Starkville last weekend with his family and that trip rekindled some familiar feelings.

“It was awesome,” Blanton said.  “The baseball coaches are amazing, and I’ve known them for a long time now.  Getting to see them and getting to walk around the facility again with my family was really awesome.  And hanging out with football, building those relationships even better, was really good.  We had a great time.”

Blanton felt the same about his Ole Miss visit. And he felt very good about USC after his visit there in June. He remains in regular contact with defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Clayton White.

“Just keep building the relationship and talking to them and getting to know them better and them getting to know me better,” said Blanton who is considering a return visit for a game this season. He’s also considering a visit to Texas A&M for a game before making his decision.
