WR Josh Vann of Tucker, GA has ridden the proverbial recruiting rollercoaster in recent months. First it was USC. Then it was Georgia. A little Alabama and Auburn were thrown in for good measure. But Vann was back at USC for a camp and campus visit last week and that has the Gamecocks back on the point with him, at least for now.
“It went good,” Vann said. “The first time I went there I didn’t get the one-on-one kind of attention for the tour like I did this time. It was a good time. I got better details about what South Carolina is really about. What really blew it off was the education part and how the teachers are one-on-one with you.”
Vann also got a look at the training and weight rooms and saw the plans for the new football operations building. He also checked out the living quarters for the football players.
Vann got to the camp late because of his campus tour and he was only able to run a couple of routes, but he did get in some direct work with receivers coach Bryan McClendon.
Van has some vacation time coming up before he goes to The Opening, and he’s also trying to get back to Auburn again. His decision is not that far off.
“I’m thinking it’s coming up pretty soon, either before the season or midway,” he said. “From all the stuff I’ve got out, I’d say South Carolina is at the top. I really like them and they really want me there. I can say I’m a good fit for South Carolina. I’m pretty sure Georgia would be second.”
On a scale of 1-10, Vann said USC’s lead on Georgia would be a five.
