South Carolina added to its 2016 commit list on Sunday when left-handed pitcher Josh Gregory (Gaffney/Gaffney) made his pledge.

Gregory has seen his stock rise rapidly over the last several months, predominately with in-state schools. He narrowed his choices to South Carolina and College of Charleston before deciding on the Gamecocks.

Gregory participated in a camp at South Carolina on Saturday that was geared towards pitchers and catchers. The 6-foot, 185-pounder was officially offered by the Gamecocks on Sunday morning and it didn’t take long for him to commit.

“I feel like USC is a perfect fit,” Gregory said. “Their campus is top notch and also have one of the best baseball programs in the South. What made me commit was the coaching staff and the opportunity to play at one of the highest levels.”

Gregory had the opportunity to work with pitching coach Jerry Meyers at camp on Saturday, which was a part of the reason that he made his commitment so quickly.

“It's a blessing to be coached by a man of his experience,” Gregory said.

Gregory joins Rian Haire (Hudson, N.C./South Caldwell) as one of two left-handed pitchers in South Carolina’s 2016 class. The Gamecocks also have a quartet of right-handed pitchers in the class - Duncan Callahan (Dillon/Dillon), Colby Lee (Latta/Latta), Sawyer Bridges (Summerville/Summerville) and Michael Bienlien (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge).
