The charges have been dropped against South Carolina punter Sean Kelly, who was arrested on August 12 and charged with damaging property when he broke an iPhone after being escorted out of a Five Points bar. Head coach Will Muschamp said following the incident that Kelly would not miss any game time.
Kelly was out of practice for at least two days, but returned to the field on August 16 to resume practice with his teammates. Muschamp said that all discipline from the incident would be handled within the program.
Kelly joined the program in January 2015 and was the only punter to go through spring practice that season. He averaged 44.3 yards per punt a year ago with a 41.3 net punting average. The Gamecocks were second in the league and seventh in the country in net punting. This year, he's the first-team punter with redshirt freshmen Michael Almond and Joseph Charlton competing for backup duties.
