Clayton White is our new DC

I like it!  CSB has been working his @ss off this week.
Agreed! Of course, the fact that he comes from WKU will turn off some folks ... but IMO, if you are nominated as the best assistant coach in the country three of the last four years, that's all I need to know about how he can do his job.

You're probably right, the WKU thing will turn some people off.  Not me.  His resume is solid.  Let's just not mention that other guy we hired from WKU a while back.

A proven DC with 3 years of NFL experience as a player.

There's a pretty steep drop-off in lower-tier teams in the SEC and NFL right now and the new coaching talent has to come from somewhere.

A LOT better than a position coach who is unproven as a coordinator.

I like it.

Can't say I know much about him, but it sounds like he has some good credentials.  Big names are not always the best hires.  Welcome aboard.

Wow! I definitely didn’t see that coming. I knew nothing at all about him, but like every other coach Beamer has hired, he seems to be very qualified. One of the comments in one of the articles said he wasn’t using the “same old SEC retreads”, and I like that a lot.

WKU held opponents to a 29.7% rate (51-of-172) on 3rd down attempts, which ranked sixth in FBS...The Hilltoppers ranked third in FBS with only 82 missed tackles all season long. With 835 total plays in 13 games, that equated to about 6.3 per contest and one every 10 snaps. Only Michigan (74) and Air Force (81) had better such numbers.  WKU also ranked among the best in the nation in a handful of other statistics: 15th with 224 first downs allowed, 19th in red zone defense with a scoring rate of 75.8%, 24th in total defense with 335.5 yards allowed per game and 28th with 200 passing yards allowed per game. The Hilltoppers allowed only 142 plays of 10-plus yards all season – which ranked tied for 10th in the country – and was down from 180 such plays WKU allowed in 2018.https://wkusports.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/clayton-white/493
What is this under 30% completion rate by opponents of which they speak?  I thought 75%+ third down completion by your opponent was part of the rules.

Ok, the 75% number is something I made up, but we have been unable to get the defense off of the field for such a long time that the 75% actually seems low.

Skeptical at first then thought about it more. Sounds like Beamer is hiring innovators rather than people who have been around the sec. and that is great and I am hopeful for some innovative stuff coming out of our team.

Never heard of him. But am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I hope he's better then the Darian Horn from W. Kentuckyy. (And yes I realize that is an unfair comparison, just brings back bad memories).

Sorry guys but my internet has been down since yesterday. So only got a minute here for I lose you all, anyhow really pleased with all Beamers hires. So happy Bobo and Friend did not work out that was more of a Tanner on Bobo money and Friend was a Bobo hire. Guys now are all Beamer and love his picks. No retreads here. Just finish up the few remaining spots on the staff. Need time to jell as a staff get it together on recruiting. Let's get the show on the road. Very happy. Beamer is his own man and will be successful here at the Real Carolina.

One other note like to add here these are our guys have not already made a name for themselves then moving on get the big bucks. Coming here to make a name for themselves here. Not any coaches here have really achieved that status. Like the change totally.

I think I like this too. Granted many wanted marque names, but these are young guys with great resumes. Who knows if they'll be successful, but  like Beamer they  will try very hard to seize this opportunity, work hard and win. The key now is to focus on getting the best "Jimmies and Joes" we can find and build a solid team.
