2018 DE Brenton Cox (6-4 235) of Stockbridge, GA is emerging as one of the next major prospects from the Peach State and he has offers from Clemson and USC among several others.  USC’s was the more recent offer coming late last week.

Cox already has a strong feeling for Clemson and has included the Tigers in his top ten along with Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Louisville and Florida State though he said he remains open to all schools.  He said the list was based off of who had offered him.

“That’s one of the best defensive lines in the country,” Cox said of Clemson.  “It (the offer) just made me feel real good as a D-end if he (Marion Hobby) thinks I can play for him.  They like my pass rush and how fast I am off the ball, and how I can put on more weight.  They say I run well and use my hands a lot and I’m developing as a player, like from what he saw of me in the ten grade to now, I’ve developed more.  Imagine what I can do by the time I play for him.”

Cox also was happy to get the USC offer, partially because his mentor is a USC grad.

“We’ve been up there a few times and I know the recent D-end that just went up there, Dennis Wonnum Jr., I know him and his family and I just know a lot of people at South Carolina,” Cox said.  “I see myself playing early just off the strength of talent.  I could see myself going there.  I could see myself going anywhere right now.  I don’t have a certain top school I want to go to.  I can see myself going there because I really looked up to Jadeveon Clowney.  I can see myself going there.”

Cox has been to Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia Tech and Auburn for games this season and he’s going to Clemson this Saturday for the Syracuse game.

Cox said he has 25 sacks so far this season.  “I be on ’em.”
