5 star 6-5 180lbs Sindarius Thornwell of Lancaster, who will play this season at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, is down to three schools according to Oak Hill coach Steve Smith. USC, Ohio State and NC State are the schools Thornwell is focused on, and Smith said Friday the Gamecocks sit in good shape with him. "It looks good from a USC standpoint," Smith said. "He really likes Frank Martin and it's close to home." Martin visited with Thornwell September 9th, the first day coaches could meet with prospects. USC assistant coach Lamont Evans met with Thornwell Wednesday. At one time Clemson was a strong player with Thornwell but Smith said Clemson hasn't been up to the school to see him. Smith said Thornwell has set official visits with his three schools. NC State will be October 12th, Ohio State on the 19th and USC on the 26th. Smith said Thornwell is home in Lancaster this weekend and is planning to make an unofficial visit to USC for Saturday's football game. Thornwell plans to sign early according to Smith.
