USC quarterback Connor Shaw still isn’t fully recovered from the blow that bruised his shoulder in the first half of the Vanderbilt game two weeks ago. Steve Spurrier said Shaw didn’t throw the ball on Monday and he only got limited work in Tuesday’s practice.

At his press conference Tuesday Spurrier said it will be a few days before they know if Shaw will be available for UAB, “We won’t know his status until at least Wednesday, Thursday or so forth.”

Spurrier said there is no thought about resting Shaw against a perceived lesser opponent, saving him for the return to SEC play next week against Missouri. “We don’t operate like that. We try to win each game. This one is the most important game of the season because it’s this week. We’re getting ready for UAB.”

Shaw isn’t the only player of significance on this week’s injury report. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is dealing with bruised ribs and missed another practice Tuesday. Spurrier and defensive line coach Brad Lawing both said they expect Clowney to be back this weekend against the Blazers.
