When I first started watching SC football, Tanneyhill was our QB. I didn't watch him enough to really remember how good he really was because I was too young. Same with A1. I knew Wright was good because he made it in the league, but I cant remember how good he really was during his SC career. Petty is the first one that I can remember because I started to watch the Gamecocks religiously at that point. The rain game vs NC State w/ Watson starting as a true freshman is the game where my viewing "career" began.

On to Shaw.

..

Shaw has been the most consistent and impressive QB I have seen since I first started watching the Cocks. He was thrown into a funky situation his freshman year. He was thrust into a leadership role right from the start and has just improved each year. His attitude has been great, no off the field issues, and he is one of the main reasons we have been so successful for the past 3 years. Ive never met the guy, but Im sure he is a good man off the field too and he seems like a really humble guy. He is the most athletic/smartest QB I have watched and I have never felt uncomfortable going into a big game knowing Shaw is under center. He was the only spark we had in our lone SEC Championship appearance. We were already down by 20 or more but some of his scurries in that game were really impressive. His speed and ability to get clutch first downs on broken plays using his legs has been such a valuable asset for the past few seasons. His throwing has also improved.

I really hope he has a fantastic senior year. He DESERVES a championship. I know we will be using a dual QB system this year and I know Dylan is also the man. Shaw has earned his right to start and lead this team to the promised land. I know missing the spring had to grind his gears but I know he will come back with a vengeance and FINISH what he started here. I hope he can make quicker decisions and once he does that he might go down as one of the best QBs in SC history. All he does is win ballgames and we will have the best season ever because of him.

I completely agree...I've been watching some of our full games from last season lately and Shaw really gives our team a spark when he's on the field...there have been plenty of times when plays have broken down on 3rd and long and Shaw finds running room to keep KEY drives alive. Really happy with how smart Shaw has been with the football as well and not always trying to force the big play.
