Rashan Gary
Monday marked 48 hours until National Signing Day for the 2016 football recruiting season and there was plenty of activity to cover.

There were decommitments and whittling of lists.  And final plans for announcements and signings were set.

Here’s the information gathered from recruits we talked to on Wednesday plus other key pieces of information reported by others.

ATH Yafari Werts of Newberry, who was contacted by his USC recruiter Shawn Elliott Monday afternoon about a potential offer, was told by Elliott Monday night that he will call his coach, Phil Strickland, sometime Tuesday morning and will get back to him as soon as he knows something more.   Werts will sign Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM with either USC, Georgia Southern or Appalachian State.

WR Korey Banks of Tyrone, GA decommitted from North Carolina on Monday but said he hasn’t dropped the Tar Heels totally.  He talked with USC recruiter Bryan McClendon Monday and that was the only recruiter he talked to on the day.  Banks said he still has USC, North Carolina and Alabama on his list and will take their camps to the table Wednesday.  He will sign at 7:30 AM.  He said Monday night he had not made his decision.

DL Aaron Thompson of Ft. Lauderdale decommitted from Maryland Monday but is still considering the Terps and USC and possibly some others he did not name.  Thompson talked with his USC recruiter Travaris Robinson Monday.  He made his official visit to USC this past weekend.  He signs Wednesday  morning at 11:00 AM and does not claim a favorite at this point.

The mother of DL Rashan Gary of Paramus, NJ told some media outlets Monday night her son will choose either Clemson or Michigan on Wednesday at 1:00 PM on ESPN2.  Gary is coming off an official visit to Clemson.  The weekend before he took an unofficial visit to Michigan.  He also took an official visit to Michigan.  Gary has family in the Clemson area but he also has several friends and a former coach who are at Michigan.

DE Jacoby Hill of Atlanta said he’s still favoring Memphis over USC as of Monday night.  He did not talk with the Gamecocks on Monday and said as of Monday night he felt like he’d be signing with the Tigers on Wednesday.  The program at his school starts at 10:00 AM.  Hill said he feels set with Memphis at this point.

WR Hank Tuipulotu of Nation Ford said Monday night he’s still a lean to BYU over USC.  He visited BYU last weekend.  He will make his decision final on Wednesday at 2:00 PM.

DL Jamil Dukes of Mooresville, NC will not sign Wednesday.  He talked to USC recruiter Shawn Elliott who was just checking up on him.  Dukes is not sure what his future plans regarding football will be at this point.

WR Javon Wims of Hinds JC, MS plans to stick with his Georgia commitment and sign with the Bulldogs Wednesday.  He took an official visit to USC.

DL Karamo Dioubate of Philadelphia told the website MLive.com, which covers sports in the state of Michigan, that he won’t have a ceremony when he announces his decision at his school Wednesday.  He took official visits to USC, Michigan State, Temple, Rutgers and Auburn.  Penn State and Ohio State have also been in the running. The last coach to meet with him in person was Temple head coach Matt Rhule who saw him Saturday night after he returned from USC.  Dioubate has not disclosed a favorite.
