Current feeling about season's potential

Thirty yards of total Offense in the First Half killed us - even though we were only down 10 points, the Defense was on the field way too long. Hilinski looked like a true Freshman - or Bentley since the Clemson game, take your pick.

The O Line did not have a good day, but it seemed that Mizzou played the smart way - take away the quick immeidate reads, bring pressure and make Hilinski uncomfortable. And there were zero adjustments made.

We need to do is use Joyner more at QB - he can elude the rush long enough to find open receivers. That is the soft underbelly of Mizzou's approach - receivers can get wide open with double moves because they are being pressed by defennders - if the QB can get away from the initial pressure. Hilinski is still the long-term answer but he was not ready for his first road game against an attacking D.
ACE - I think simply the boy was HURT. He can play against any D - he showed it with Alabama.

I'll go one game at a time. We beat Kentucky this weekend. After that, I'll give you my thoughts on the next game. lol

It is hard to say how much he was hurt - Muschamp is notorious for being misleading about that. But if you look at Trevor Lawrence's first road game last year against TAMU, he did not play well. I believe that a lot of the problem was that his inexperience caught up with him.

Boom might be saying he is not badly hurt so that UK will prep for him. Then - if he really is too hurt to be effective - we throw Joyner at them. I believe that we have a really solid guy there.
He showed no fear playing alabama, and backed up that attitude, he was taped up for the 1st half and looked pretty bad, they took the tape off and he played better. This was an injury issue, not a mental one.

I thought I also heard some type of "bug" / sickness ran through the team last week.  Anyone else here anything about that?

You could have a point, but I'm trying to remain positive. Horn looks pretty excellent.
Yea, JC is a good DB.

What I'd give right now to have these guys in my 2-deep: Gilmore, Munnerlyn, Joseph, Swearinger, Stewart....

certainly. I think there are some NFL teams with that same opinion, though.

I do too!!

The defense has surprisingly been the bright spot so far this season. Along with our running backs. They look much better than they have been. If they play every game like the Kentucky game we can hang with just about anybody, and that is sunshine pumping, those are facts.

I felt much better headed into Mizzou than I did after it.  Some confidence is renewed after the UK game.  How much of that was defensive performing better vs a QB who couldn't throw it out of a boat and hit water though?  We did stop their run for the most part but struggled late when they moved the WR to the wildcat and went faster.  Until we are consistent I'm still not optimistic about many other games.  None of them will be easy.  Very pleased with our running game but one troubling trend is our inability to push the ball down field vertically and to protect RH.  4-5 wins is what I'm guessing but I'm also hoping we put it all together for a few surprises.

Basically thinking or same approach as you for now.

and that is NOT sunshine pumping, those are facts.
