October 15, 2017
Led by 4-star quarterback Dakereon Joyner, several members of the 2018 South Carolina recruiting class put up big numbers during their games last week.
In the first half of another blowout win by Fort Dorchester High School (North Charleston, S.C.), Joyner threw for over 100 yards and rushed for more than a 100 yards. He accounted for 5 touchdowns, 3 passing and 2 rushing.
Heading into the game, Joyner had completed 62 of 98 passes for 1,054 yards with 14 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He also entered with 68 carries for 480 yards and 10 scores. Joyner hasn’t played in many second halves this season, because of Fort Dorchester’s big leads.
Four-star wide receiver Josh Vann, who now owns the DeKalb County (Ga.) High School record for receiving yards, had a 42-yard touchdown run in Tucker High School’s 36-7 win over Lovejoy.
Vann will receive his U.S. Army All-American jersey this week.
Three-star running back Deshaun Fenwick rushed 15 times for 76 yards in Braden River (Fla.) High School’s 41-14 win over Sarasota. His teammate, 2019 running Knowledge McDaniel, who also has an offer from South Carolina, caught a pair of touchdown passes (37, 33).
Three-star wide receiver Darius Rush caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt for a touchdown in CE Murray High School’s 40-8 win against Branchville.
Four-star safety Marlon Character Jr., who will play cornerback for South Carolina, had 7 tackles in Northwest Mississippi’s 61-38 win over East Mississippi Community College.
Three-star wide receiver Ronnie Jamison caught 3 passes for 38 yards in Highland Community College’s 9-6 loss to Independence. Jamison also returned a kickoff for 34 yards.
Three-star defensive tackle Jabari Ellis has 14 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks over six games for Georgia Military College.
