Remember several years back when we lost to Auburn at home, we played great, they didn't and the fans cheered the team after a loss and we couldn't quit talking about how good we COULD BE. My how the times have changed. We lose to a very good Ga team at their place, win the last 2 games by playing ugly against 2 quality opponents and we can't quit talking about how bad we are. Go figure

I remember when Florida had Ron Zook as their HC and the fireronzook website was up. One of the updates they had on their blog in 2003 was something along the lines of "Florida nearly loses to SEC powerhouse (yeah right) South Carolina." That was pretty insulting then, but now that I look back, it seems justified for a team two years separated from a 10-2 season and coming down from the winningest decade of their program's history.

This was the attitude of a fan base that would, within the next 6 years, have a Heisman trophy winner, two national championships, and three 13-win seasons out of four.

I'm not a negative person, but I don't think that it's necessarily bad to have people voice their displeasure with our team's performance. Some of it may be ignorance, frustration, or just being spoiled. Part of the criticism, though, is justified. We need some of this to help drive us forward. Proving opposing fans wrong is a form of motivation, but proving yourself to your own fans is, I would venture to say, much more rewarding

Spurrier wanted the fan base to demand excellence in winning and not to cheer on moral victories while losing. It's not a monster he's created its a fan base that expects more than what we've been getting even with a super young team. We expect to blow out lesser opponents and win against Georgia not continually let Georgia impose it's will upon us. We don't want to settle for 11-2 if we can have 13-0
