Discussion Thread: 2020 Talking Gamecock Football Recruiting

The film I saw on Hunter looked pretty good.  He has good size and looks like he likes to hit.  Happy to see us getting bigger CB's that bring the wood!!
Yep, every report I've seen on him has had nothing but good things to say.....he's a high 3* right now, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him end up a 4* by the end of the cycle, if he has a strong senior year in high school.....

Another big commitment in high 3* CB Joey Hunter today! Also pretty big news indirectly: Auburn secured a commitment from 4* LB Wesley Steiner. The talk was that Auburn was down to a final LB spot for either Steiner - who USC was not recruiting - and 4* LB prospect Desmond Tisdol, who we are a finalist for. So with Steiner's commitment to AU, that puts us in better position to perhaps take Tisdol, but we're also in the running for 4* LB Le'Neth Whitehead. But either way, the dominoes are starting to fall for some top targets of ours....
Good day for the Gamecocks. This Lloyd news bothers me. I hope we can hold on to this kid. Just got an a uneasy feeling now about how strong his commit is to us.

Seems the Gamecocks have really dipped down in the recruiting ranks.

From 5th to 8th in SEC 247 and 247 National where 9th now 18th, 23rd in Rivals but looking good on ESPN at 9th.

Thoughts?

Our ranking will change a bunch of times before Feb. These kids are changing their minds every second now. Too many bagmen and uncles getting into these kids ear during the recruiting process.

Yes it will be back and forth as we add and others add to the classes. Just hate looking at who is NO 1 but anyhow good news I posted this an the tweet: Gamecocks commitment RB Marshawn Lloyd says no plans to change his mind. Like the sound. Music to my ears. Walker for months now was visiting and in my book was a very soft commit. No surprise here.

Yes after our big surge forward with the lead of Huntley committing to us around early-mid-June, a number of programs had big recruiting events of their own and had some commitments take place. Plus the Opening event that some prospects used to make announcements - none were for us - although we did get a big commitment from Hunter during that time - but one sizable de-commit came from it.

Still, nothing has changed that we'll see a couple or more major commitments around the end of July, with our big invite-only cookout event, plus kids starting their final high school seasons, and wanting to make commitments to get the recruiting out of the way and focus on their final years of HS football. So, there will be some action happening in another 2-3 weeks. We'll see where we end up....

If I see it correctly, after picking up a great punter, that gives us 15 total commitments for 2020. Currently we have 18 SR's. Does that mean we only have 3 more commitments we can add?

Will any of the JR's be leaving early?

I would hate it but I imagine for a prospects like Bigsby or Burch, could other players possibly lose their scholarship? Aren't they year by year?

2020 RB Henry Parrish out of Miami visited for the KY game and came away very impressed. Said it’s between us and Pitt (still committed there) but that we are now his favorite. He has a great relationship with the coaches and wants to play early which is def in our favor.

I think he’ll jump in with us and he and Lloyd will make a good pair next season along with Harris.
