DL John Mincey of Homerville, GA wrapped up his official visit to USC Saturday morning. He arrived Thursday night so that he could get his visit in and then return home for a basketball game Saturday night. Mincey is now finished with his visits and is ready to get down to a decision between USC and Tennessee, the two schools he officially visited.
“I liked everything they showed me and I had a pretty good time with the players and all that,” Mincey said. “I really liked the apartments the players stay in. The indoor facility was real good, the weight room was nice and the locker room was pretty solid. I liked all that.”
Mincey also had the chance to sit down with Will Muschamp, Lance Thompson and Travaris Robinson to hear their pitch about why he should sign with them.
“They just told me and showed me how I would fit in the defense and how much I was needed down there at South Carolina and how much I could help the team,” he said. “I would be used as a defensive end, defensive tackle. The visit put them up there a good little bit.”
Mincey said he is expecting Thompson to visit Tuesday to watch him basketball game, and he’s also expecting coaches from Tennessee to visit him this coming week. He said he is not leaning one way or another at this point and he felt equally at home at both places on his visits.
Javon Kinlaw and Keir Thomas served as his players hosts at USC.
